Strengthening the Partnership Between the Palestinian Maintenance Fund and Women’s Organizations in Coordination with the Women’s Media and Development Association (TAM)
Bethlehem, January 13 – As part of efforts to enhance the Fund’s role in supporting women, children, the elderly, and those unable to earn a living, and to expand its services in cooperation with the Women’s Media and Development Association (TAM), the Palestinian Maintenance Fund organized a participatory workshop in Bethlehem Governorate. The workshop was attended by the Director General, Ms. Fatmeh Muaqqet, along with directors of the Legal Department and the Planning and Human Resources Department at the Fund. The event was held in coordination and partnership with TAM, represented by its Director General Ms. Suhair Farraj, and included participation from the General Union of Palestinian Women, the Miftah Foundation, the Rural Women’s Development Association, the Psychological and Social Guidance Center for Women, and the Advisory Forum for Female Members of Local Councils in Palestine.
The workshop focused on mechanisms of cooperation between the Fund and several grassroots and women’s organizations aimed at ensuring women’s access to the legal, social, and economic services provided by the Fund.
The workshop also reviewed challenges related to providing free legal assistance to women in the Bethlehem area. It was agreed that TAM would host the Fund’s staff to deliver these services to women from the region. Ms. Muaqqet emphasized the importance of this collaboration, describing it as a significant step towards enhancing access for alimony beneficiaries to their rights and providing them with legal and social support.
At the conclusion of the workshop, several recommendations were made, including intensifying awareness meetings and workshops by the Fund in Bethlehem, Hebron, and southern areas to raise awareness about the Fund’s services and eligible beneficiaries; strengthening cooperation between local, grassroots, and women’s organizations to support the issues of women, children, the elderly, and persons with disabilities; and working on providing legal support to women in areas where access to the Fund and women’s organizations is difficult.
